Alan Williams Biography.

I was born in Nottingham in 1964. I’ve had the urge to write from an early age – I remember scribbling on a teddy bear as a toddler. My first forays into writing novels took place in my teens. Those attempts are now gathering dust somewhere in my attic, together with a number of short stories and some poetry which also escaped the waste-paper bin. I persevered though, independently publishing my official debut novel The Daylight Thief in November 2015 and I’m currently working on my second.

I also write the occasional blog about my other passion (besides, that is, my family and Nottingham Forest FC!)… which is history. Within these pages I hope that I can communicate the buzz I get when I am standing in the places where history happened.

My fiction draws on this love of the past – particularly our proximity and debt to it – and my fascination with how the unexceptional and mundane can sometimes become the exceptional and unique.
